Hayden Chisholm
Saxophonist/composer Hayden Chisholm’s (b. 1975 Otahuhu, New Zealand) first musical experiences were with local Dixieland bands. On receiving a scholarship, he attended the Conservatory for Music and Dance in Cologne, Germany, where he studied with Frank Gratkowski. Known for his work with John Taylor, Jochen Rückert, and Burnt Friedman, Chisholm is a member of Nils Wolgram’s celebrated quartet Root70. In addition to numerous awards, he was selected to be the 2015 Improviser in Residence at the world-renowned Moers Festival. He is involved as a composer for film and theater productions, and since 2000 has been working closely with the internationally recognized German artist Rebecca Horn.
