Kathrin Pechlof
Harpist/composer Kathrin Pechlof (b.1978 Munich, Germany) studied classical harp at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich before going on to study jazz composition and improvisation at the Cologne University of Music. She gradually migrated towards jazz, playing in such avant-garde ensembles as the Wanja Slavin Sextet and the Cosmic Groove Orchestra, as well as the internationally recognized Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra. She has also appeared with German rapper-singer Max Herre, Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini and the techno band Brandt Bauer Frick. Pechlof appears on the acclaimed Pablo Held Pirouet album »Glow». Kathrin Pechlof’s trio with saxophonist Christian Weidner and bassist Robert Landfermann have had continuing success since their debut album on Pirouet, Imaginarium. German Radio commented that, »her compositions combine the look and feel of classical and new music with the spontaneity of jazz.«
