Maria De Fatima
Singer Maria de Fatima (b. 1956, Lisbon, Portugal) left her homeland at the age of 20, living in Sweden for several years as a teacher and interpreter. It was there that she discovered her love for jazz, Brazilian, and Portuguese music, and subsequently studied at the music conservatory in Amsterdam. Afterwards Maria moved to Germany to teach at Bremen’s Conservatory for Art and the Academy of Music in Oldenburg. Besides having worked with such jazz greats as Peter Herbolzheimer, Maria is on the concert circuit, and conducts workshops. Maria de Fatima’s regular cast of players in her group includes Sebastian Altekamp, Wolfgang Bleibel, Jason Seizer, Dré Pallemaerts, and Nic Thys. Her music bridges the gaps between Fado, jazz, and Brazilian music.
